Bafana Bafana coach, Stuart Baxter, has implied that Libya’s crowd won’t necessarily win them the game against South Africa in today’s 2019 AFCON qualify.
South Africa face the Mediterranean Knights tonight needing a point to qualify for the 2019 AFCON.
Bafana’s coach Baxter has underrated Libya’s expected crowd in tonight’s neutral venue in Tunisia.
“I have played at the Nou Camp (Spain), Wembley (England) and lots of other big stadiums that have been packed. We have played in Congo with Bafana my first time around with them – about 10 000 people there,” Baxter said to Soccer Laduma.
“But still I’ve never seen a crowd come down on the pitch and actually win a game. It still ends up on what you do. But it is the head space. It’s how do they cope with the what ifs and the ‘I better not make this mistake’, keeping that little chitter chatter quiet so they can just get on with the game –play their normal game. That is what we are after and not being affected by the occasion,” added the British coach.
Libya need a win to quality, while a point will take Bafana to the the 2019 AFCON.
