South Africa is within touching distance of AFCON 2019 but they must secure at least a point in Tunisia against Libya to make that dream a reality.

Match preview 🖊

Libya and South Africa will meet on neutral ground in Tunisia on Sunday, with Bafana Bafana knowing that a point will secure their passage to Africa's showpiece tournament in Egypt later this year. With strike duo Lebo Mothiba and Percy Tau likely to start up front, they'll be confident that they can trouble a defence that has conceded nine goals in five Group E qualifiers. However, discretion might be the better part of valour in a clash with so much on the line.

Bafana's miserly defence has conceded only one goal in five qualifiers and that will provide some encouragement for them but it all boils down to Sunday, and a defeat would mean that Libya would advance at their expense. A repeat of the 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture will suffice for South Africa, but we expect Libya to adopt a more positive approach this time around.

Can Bafana, unbeaten in qualifiers so far, hold their nerve?

Players to watch📰

Libya forward Anis Saltou, who has bagged four goals so far in qualifying, will carry the major threat posed by the Mediterranean Knights.

South Africa's undisputed number 1 goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune is out injured and the Kaizer Chiefs man's shoes will be big ones to fill - he's only conceded one goal in qualifying.  Stuart Baxter must choose between Ronwen Williams and Darren Keet in that regard.

Montpellier winger Keagan Dolly is injured which will deplete Bafana of some of their creativity and experience. Stuart Baxter will likely opt for a two-pronged attack comprising of Lebo Mothiba, scorer of nine Ligue 1 goals this season for Strasbourg, and the creative left-footer Percy Tau, who's on the books of Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.
