Guardiola sends warning to Manchester United about Mata

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has warned Manchester United they would lose an 'exceptional' player in Juan Mata.

The Spaniard could leave the Red Devils on a free transfer at the end of the season if a new contract is not agreed. And Guardiola labelled Mata as an exceptional player admitting he has been a fan of the former Chelsea man.

“He’s an exceptional player, one of the players I like the most. From the period in Valencia, at Barcelona when I was there, we wanted to bring him but the problem was that we had a lot of midfield players that was the only problem," he said.

“But, he’s incredible, he played well for Chelsea and United and has a good restaurant in Manchester.”
