Pedro, Jovic on target as Chelsea, Frankfurt share spoils

Red hot Serbian striker Luka Jovic continued his impressive goal scoring form for Eintracht Frankfurt as they battled to a 1-1 home draw with Chelsea in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final clash on Thursday night.

Jovic, who has scored 17 Bundesliga goals for Frankfurt this season, opened the scoring for the home side when he got down between the two Chelsea centre-backs to head the ball past Kepa.

Despite controlling the tempo of the game after the goal, Maurizio Sarri's men struggled to create chances past a solid Frankfurt backline.

Pedro goal.

The continued pressure finally paid off for the away side just before the break when Pedro showed a pair of quick feet to hammer the shot through a packed box and into the far corner.

Second half.

Both sides failed to find the winning goal in the second half despite numerous good chances falling on both ends.

Chelsea came close to finding a second goal in the 60th minute when David Luiz's brilliant strike hammered the crossbar after a fingertip from Trapp.

Next for the Blues is a Premier League fixture against Watford at home before hosting the Bundesliga side for the second leg still at home on Thursday night.
