The inaugural U15 Council for East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) Tournament will be hosted in Eritrea in August.

As quoted by the Standard, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa said they had agreed as a region to pay more attention to the development of youth football.

“We have decided as a region to pay more attention in promoting youth football and towards this end, we will host the first-ever Under-15 regional tournament in Eritrea in August,” Mwendwa said.

Mwedwa further asserted that the national U15 team remains the future of the country and that’s why they were investing so much in the side with the federation expected to bring in new faces to the side each year to ease the integration.

“This is the future of our country because we are investing in them and allowing them to train in a world-class facility. They are staying together and doing everything as a unit. It can only get better. Every year we will bring in new children into the program to ensure we have continuity,” he added.

The U15 side has in recent months involved in a series of friendlies with the team having just left Spain last month where they were involved in the Mediterranean International Cup.
