The Nigeria Professional Football League 2018/19 season has come to an end with eight teams dropping to the lower division.
It was an abridged league done to allow for early finish, with 24 teams starting the race.
After the season-long battle, eight teams have now been relegated, including big surprise, El Kanemi Warriors.
The Maiduguri side, who have featured in continental championship in the past, could not keep the tempo they started with, faltering along the way.
Insurance, who's promotion to the NPFL in 2018 gave hope to home fans, could not stand the tough challlenge the top flight presented. They are back to the NNL after just one season.
Other relegated teams are Kwara United who will have internal wrangling to blame for their poor run. Niger Tornadoes, Remo Stars, Gombe United, Yobe Stars and Go Round all suffered the drop.
While the eight were dropping, six others were gaining qualification for Super Six, which will decide the actual winner of the NPFL 2018/19 season.
