Emery: We made one more step despite Chelsea loss

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has said that the team has made 'one more step' from last year, despite their loss to Chelsea in the finals of the Europa League on Wednesday night.

The Gunners suffered a humiliating 4-1 loss to their London rivals in Baku, Azerbaijan, but Emery feels the team is headed in the right direction.

"We are really disappointed today but in general we made a new step in improving and being competitive. We made one more step than last year," he said after the match.

"I think we have good, big players with experience and some young players who can, in the next year, with the experience of this year, take a little more great performance for us," he added.

The manager feels he has a good team, which can be moulded further into a good side with a mix of young and experienced players.

"I think we have good, big players with experience and some young players who can, in the next year, with the experience of this year, take a little more great performance for us," he added.

The damaging defeat saw Arsenal end the season without a trophy, and missed out on Champions League next season.
