Orlando Pirates defender cum midfielder Nyasha Marshall Munetsi seems to be on his way to France.
A leading Zimbabwean publication has reported that Munetsi’s deal to Ligue 1 is a good as done, which is a follow up to several stories in South Africa that previously mentioned that the 22-year-old caught eyes abroad.
“There are many teams across Europe who have shown genuine interest on him, but he has picked Reims. He is heading for France,” a source told NewsDay.
“The deal is almost done and barring unforeseen circumstances, he will be playing in French Ligue 1 next season."
Munetsi in action for Zimbabwe in the COSAFA Cup last week.
Munetsi will likely leave Pirates after a disappointing season. He was played as a central defender and made 23 appearances from Pirates' 40+ games in 2018/19.
“His handlers have met with the club officials and they have agreed terms. Reims are now talking to Munetsi’s club Orlando Pirates,” added the source.
Meanwhile, Munetsi is now with the national team in Nigeria ahead of tomorrow’s friendly against the Super Eagles. The Warriors open AFCON 2019 against hosts Egypt on 21 June.
