Paul Pogba opens up on his relationship with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Paul Pogba has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in this transfer window as he opened up on his relationship with Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The French midfielder had a blistering start to Solskjaer's reign at United last December, notching eight goals and five assists in the Norwegian's first nine Premier League games in charge at Old Trafford. His level dipped during the final few months of the season but Solskjaer kept faith in the 26-year-old as he didn't miss a minute of top-flight football between the beginning of March and the end of the campaign.

In an interview with the Times, Pogba termed his relationship with Solskjaer as "very good", "People call him baby-faced but now he’s just a happy person. He smiles all the time and brings smiles to people. He’s really nice. I had the chance to be with him a few times in the reserves so I know him for a long time and I have a very good relationship with him.

"Once when I was at Juventus we saw each other. He’s a very nice guy and a very good person. He’s really nice with the players and very close with the players as well."

Replacing Mourinho

Pogba was also asked Solskjaer's first words after replacing Mourinho, "The first thing that Ole said was to enjoy football. That's the only thing that he said to us. That's what we do, we enjoy playing football.

"The last couple of months [of the season] weren't the best and when you don't win games you don't enjoy it. It was tough. We had injured players as well. When you arrive at that period of the season it is difficult. I think that had an impact on the results.

"I think we're still learning, we're still growing. We try to come back to the top and play in the Champions League, get to semi-finals, winning the Premier League. That's the goal of the club and that's why Ole came back."
