Zesco eye eighth league title

Zesco United will be aiming for an eighth league title when they go head to head with Green Eagles on Saturday at Woodlands Stadium in the MTN/FAZ Super League playoff. Zesco finished top of stream A while Eagles topped stream B.

The Superleague has divided into two streams ahead of the 2019 transitional league and hence the two top teams from the streams will have to battle for the league crown.

Zesco is looking to make it a double after humiliating Zanaco four goals to one to win the 2019 ABSA Cup. Should Zesco beat Eagles they will win their eighth league title and a third in three consecutive seasons.

Green Eagles, on the other hand, are looking at winning their first ever league title. If Eagles win the league, They will become the first team to win the league outside of Lusaka, Central and Copperbelt provinces.

Zesco will start life without star forward Lazarus Kambole who has joined South Africa PSL side Kaizer Chiefs. Jesse Jackson Were is expected to take up the mantle and lead the attack.

The winner will walk away with half a million kwacha and will get their hands on the copper coated trophy.
