Kampala City Council (KCCA) head Mike Hillary Mutebi has set reaching the group stage of the CAF Champions League as the main target for the club in the 2019/2020 campaign.
KCCA beat Azam by a lone Kizza Mustapha strike to win the 2019 CECAFA Kagame Cup. Mutebi believes it proves that his team is a strong side. He is confident they can reach the group stage so that they can play at least 12 strong games which help the players confidence.
"Anybody who is a Champion is not an easy team. Our target is to reach the group stage of the CAF Champions League. If you reach the group stage it means you will play 12 big games that will help the players to grow in confidence. The more matches the players play the more they grow in confidence, " he said.
"The players wanted to win this tournament and they have fulfilled. The performance was good today and overall they have had a good tournament," he added.
KCCA will start their CAF Champions League campaign with a two-legged tie against African Stars of Namibia and if they win they will face the winner between Petroleos de Luanda of Angola and Matlama FC of Lesotho.
