Pitso reveals Zwane's big ambition and what Vila told him

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has let out that Themba Zwane holds ambitions of becoming the topscorer and player of the season.

Zwane and Vilkazi shone very bright with goal apiece as Sundowns put away SuperSport United 2-0 at Lucas Moripe this afternoon.

"It's a good start. First congratulations to Themba Zwane." Mosimane told Supersport TV.

"He says he wants to be top goalscorer and player of the season. But I'm happy that Vila scored. He came to me and said, 'What is this that he needs to correct'. I said it always looks nice and pretty but you don't finish, you don't score the goal. You need to finish. But I'm happy he scored with the left foot from outside the box,” Mosimane revealed.

Additionally, Mosimane highlighted the importance of allowing his footballers to improvise and enjoy their game. Mosimane says doing otherwise would severely restrain them.

"Sometimes my players are naughty when they are trying to play their way out. Too many small passes. But you know, I don't want to stop because I've got to let them to play to their potential. Because if you don't let Vila and Themba Zwane to play those passes, then you are taking them out of the game. I wish they could shoot more, but they like to enjoy the game. It's also good for football and for people to see. But next time they must take their opportunities and kill the game sooner. They killed it late.”

Pitso also took the moment to appreciate his defence while also revealing how they managed to figure out United.

"Our defence was super. I thought I would play Riva as a right-back today but when I saw they are playing Gabuza, I knew that ball was coming from over the top all the time. And if you put Gabuza and Grobler, obviously you're going to take it up. So we had to choose personnel according to expectations. Because when they played Stellenbosch in a friendly game, we scouted them and Gabuza scored with a header.”

"Zwane is a highly technical player and you must allow him to play his strengths. If you make him run down the touchline and cross balls the whole day like Thapela, you are taking him out of the game so we need to accommodate him. We have to allow him to play the way he wants to play,” concluded Mosimane.
