Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus slapped with a two-month ban

Following his outburst in the COPA America final against Peru, Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus has been handed a two-months international ban by CONMEBOL.

The 22-year-old received a second yellow card halfway through the second period of the match after barging into Peru's Carlos Zambrano. The referee's decision did not go down well with Jesus who reacted furiously to the decision, signaling that he felt the referee had been bribed before nearly knocking over the VAR monitor and bursting into tears.

CONMEBOL have decided that Jesus broke Articles 7.1 and 7.2 of the Disciplinary Rules for "behaving in an offensive, insulting or defamatory manner of any kind." The decision comes days after Lionel Messi was handed a three months suspension from international matches and slapped with a £41,000 fine by CONMEBOL.

Jesus will now miss Brazil's matches against Colombia and Peru next month
