🇲🇦 🤝 African giants Morocco name Halilhodzic as manager

Royal Moroccan Football Federation have named Vahid Halilhodzic as their new national team manager.

Following the AFCON 2019 flop of crashing out in the last 16 round agaisnt Benin and subsequent resignation of Herve Renard, the Atlas Lions have confirmed Bosnia and Herzegovina’s 67-year-old Halilhodzic to take the North Africans forward.

The Bosnian joins Morocco after a stint with French first division side FC Nantes, while his previous international job was with the Japan national team.

“Coaching Morocco is a big responsibility and an honour,” Halilhodzic said at his unveiling.

“My first objective is to qualify for the World Cup. I will try to qualify a fourth consecutive national team.”

Halilhodzic also does not come without any African experience - he has previously taken charge of the Ivory Coast as well as Algeria.
