Aston Villa star sets unwanted Premier League record

Aston Villa midfielder Aston Villa Jack Grealish set an unwanted Premier League record following his side’s 2-1 loss at the hands of Bournemouth in week two of league action.

The defeat was Grealish’s 20th straight Premier League loss in claret & blue, making it the worst run of any Premier League player in the competition’s history.

Two of the losses stem from the 2014/15 season, while the following 16 came in 15/16 when Villa was relegated to the Championship.

Bournemouth took the lead when Joshua King converted a spot-kick in the second minute of the game after keeper Tom Heaton brought down Callum Wilson in the box. Harry Wilson’s deflected effort doubled the Cherries’ lead to condemn a Douglas Luiz’s stinger in the second half as a mere consolation.

The loss’ was Villa’s second on the trot since their return to the Premier League but a longer look at their record makes grim reading for Grealish.
