Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club Enyimba will play their CAF Champions League fixture against Rahimo FC in an empty stadium.
The second leg of the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League Preliminary Round fixure will be played on Sunday, inside an empty Aba international stadium.
This is as a result of a sanction by CAF who imposed the empty stadium punishment on the two-time African champions following what it labelled ‘crowd invasion in the previous home game’.
In their last campaign in the CAF Champions League, Enyimba were sanctioned after the home game against Cara of Congo when a late goal saw the People’s Elephant through.
“This latest decision by CAF came to us rather as a shock. Yes, they complained after our match against Cara which was our first game in Aba following our return from Calabar after nearly three seasons," laments an Enyimba official on CompleteSports.
"But we’ve played other games at home since then.”
Enyimba take a 1-0 deficit into the game and will need to beat The Burkina Faso club by two unreplied goals in order to advance to the next round.
