Bayern Munich midfielder on the verge of joining Lille

Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches is on the verge of joining French Ligue One side Lille on a reported fee of £23million.

According to French outlet RMC, the Portuguese midfielder will undergo a medical on Friday afternoon and will sign a five-year contract after failing to live up to the hype following his burst onto the scene during Portugal's shock Euro 2016 victory three years ago.

His performances in that tournament led to a £28million switch to Bayern, but he has since been unable to establish himself at the Allianz Arena.

Loan Spell

A loan spell with Swansea City where he made 12 league appearances ended with the club being relegated from the top flight.

Last season with Bayern, Sanches made 24 appearances for the Bavarians in all competitions last season, scoring two goals.

Lille is preparing for their first season back in the Champions League since 2014 after finishing an impressive second last term.

The club is looking to reinvest the £72million they got from selling winger Nicholas Pepe to Arsenal; the Ivory Coast player having been an integral part of the team last season.
