Real Madrid's injury list continues to bulge by the day, with Isco the latest to join the growing number of absentees.
Isco becomes the eighth Madrid player to be sidelined, with the club indicating he might be out for about three to four weeks.
This is a huge blow to coach Zinedine Zidane, who lost James Rodgriguez for a similar period of time early in the week.
"After the tests carried out today on our player Isco by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the right biceps femoral," the club said on their website on Wednesday.
"His recovery will continue to be assessed," they added.
The Spaniard was in action as Madrid drew 1-1 with Real Valladolid on Saturday, before being replaced by new signing Luka Jovic.
Isco will now miss their next match against Villareal but is expected back after the international break.
He joins the long list of players out injured, including marquee signing Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio, Brahim Diaz, James and Rodrygo.
Madrid started the season with a 3-0 win away to Celta Vigo but dropped points at home to Valladolid last weekend.
