After being linked with Club Brugge for the better part of the summer transfer window, Victor Wanyama has been offered a lifeline by Celtic who want him on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Kenyan skipper joined Celtic back in 2011 from Swedish club, Beerschot and had a three-year stint with the Scottish giants before making the switch to the English Premier League, joining Southampton. Wanyama enjoyed a highly successful stay at Celtic winning two league titles and one Scottish Cup.
It was reported that Spurs had agreed on a £13m deal with Brugge towards the end of last month but the move failed to materialize. According to the Daily Record, Spurs will now consider loan offers for Wanyama if a permanent deal can't be done before tonight's transfer deadline.
However, Celtic would struggle to afford his wages so they would have to hope that Tottenham are willing to pay part of his salary in order to get him out the door. Should the deal go through Wanyama will reunite with his former manager Neil Lennon who returned to Celtic this year.
