Coaching a side like Polokwane City to fifth place results in true demand.
Former Polokwane City’s Slovakian coach Jozef Vukusic is reportedly set to pick his club of choice. The 55-year-old has a queue of suitors.
Vukusic, noted for his unique image of a backwards worn cap, only needed a season to make his name in Mzansi - and make it he did.
His fifth-place finish to steer Rise & Shine to a historic top eight finish included a run of eight games without a loss. With 45 goals & 44 conceded, Vukusic’s side lost only eight games from 30.
But the end of the season saw the East European walk out. Due to reported poor treatment and unprofessionalism from the Limpopo club, the former Spartaks Jurmala coach and Technical Director resigned Polokwane.
Now with AmaZulu without a coach, Stellenbosch FC as well as Black Leopards grappling with results, it’s no real surprise Vukusic’s phone is ringing.
“Jozef Vukusic could be back in the PSL to coach one of the clubs this season. There’s a lot of interest in the coach from a number of clubs,” a source told the influential Soccer Laduma today.
The informer concluded by adding some of the club names, including Stellenbosch FC and Black Leopards who still have their two respective coaches at the helm.
“Stellenbosch FC, Black Leopards and AmaZulu are some of the clubs interested in the coach. The coach is keen on returning to the PSL,” the source added.
