Reigning African Champions Esperance needed a late goal from Abdelraouf Benguit to seal qualification to the Group Stages while Mamelodi Sundowns whitewashed Cote d'Or 16-1 on aggregate.
Friday's second leg qualification was a goal-laden affair with three ties producing seventeen goals as Petro Atletico become the first side to seal a spot in the Group Stages following their 1-1 draw against Ugandan champions KCCA in Kampala after a barren draw in Angola.
South African heavyweights Mamelodi Sundowns eviscerated Seychelles side, Côte d'Or FC 11-1 with Sibusiso Vilakazi grabbing an 18-minute hat-trick. After the first leg ended 5-0 in favor of Sundowns, Pitso Mosimane's men stormed the group stages with an emphatic 16-1 aggregate.
Esperance who have bagged the Champions League crown twice in succession got a huge scare in the qualification round of their title defense as they need an 83rd-minute winner to get past Chadian side Elect Sport.
The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw and Elect took a surprise lead in the 28th minute but second-half goals from Ibrahim Ouattara and Abdelraouf Benguit handed them a win.
