Manchester City is set to offer midfielder Fernandinho a new contract at the club according to reports from the Sun.
The reports claim that the Brazilian is in line to receive a 12-month contract extension at City soon acter being one key member of the team in the past years; his contract set to come to an end in June of 2020.
Despite entering the twilight of his career, Fernandinho remains a key part of the club and has recently received praise from manager Pep Guardiola following his outstanding performance and work rate.
Slotted in Defence
The midfielder has slotted well in defence to help ease the defensive burden of the team and is seen as one of the leaders in the side after the departure of Vincent Kompany.
The Brazilian has now been in Manchester for six years, following a move from Shakhtar and according to the reports, City is looking to keep Fernandinho on the books in order to help summer signing Rodri, who has been earmarked to replace the Brazilian in the long term.
