Kenyan Premier League newbies Wazito FC have confirmed that they have parted ways with the entire technical bench.
Rumors had surfaced on Sunday, a day after their loss to Kakamega Homeboyz, that the club had parted ways with their coaches with the confirmation coming on Monday.
In a statement on their portal, Wazito noted: “We can confirm that Head Coach Fred Ambani and Technical Director Stanley Okumbi have left the club by mutual consent.”
On his part, the club’s Chief Executive Officer Dennis Gicheru has thanked the duo for their service to the club and wished them well for the future.
“I would like to thank coach Ambani and coach Okumbi for their great service to the club. They did a tremendous job during their time here and we wish them all the best,” he said.
In the absence of the duo, the club noted that assistant coach Hamisi Mohammed will temporarily be in charge of the team as they seek to get a permanent replacement.
A section of the media claimed that there had been power play between Okumbi and Ambani on how players were to be fielded with the latter feeling that Okumbi was tampering with his work; both had been with the club since their days in the National Super League and were key members as they gained promotion to the KPL.
