Arsenal legend set to be appointed as Southend manager

Arsenal legend Sol Campbell is set to be appointed as the new major of League One side Southend.

Southend has been in the market to appoint a new head coach since Kevin Bond resigned following six consecutive league defeats at the start of the season. According to Sky Sports, Campbell who saved Macclesfield from relegation to non-league football in his first managerial post last season is in advanced talks with the League One side.

The 45-year-old has been without a club since leaving Sky Bet League Two side Macclesfield Town by mutual consent in August.
