Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has revealed winger Wilfried Zaha was never too close to joining Arsenal.
Arsenal were heavily linked with Zaha but a deal failed to materialize which saw the north London side turn attention to countryman Nicolas Pepe. Ahead of Palace's clash with Arsenal on Sunday, Hodgson says Zaha was never close to leaving the Eagles because the Gunners' offer for him was a long way from what the club would consider.
"Not very close at all as far as I know," he said in a press conference.
"I believe that the money that was offered which was widely reported was reasonably accurate, and of course that was way below our valuation."
Zaha who had handed in a transfer request but the club opted to hold on their star player revealed he was not happy with how the transfer window panned out.
