Edward Chilufya wins Swedish Allsvenskan with Djurgadens IF

Zambia U23 national team striker Edward Chilufya and his Djurgadens IF teammates were on Saturday, November 2nd crowned as the Swedish Allsvenskan Champions following a 2-2 draw away at Norrköping.

Djurgadens peeped record 23-time Champions, Malmö FF to win their eighth Allsvenskan title finishing with 66 points just one point above Malmö in second place. Djurgadens will represent Sweden in the UEFA Champions League next season.


Djurgadens traveled to Norrköping needing only a point to secure their eighth title. The match did not, however, they were two-nil down just 15 minutes into the match thanks to goals from Rasmus Lauritsen and Sead Haksabanovic.

Djurgadens came back from the break a different side and Jesper Karlström pulled a goal back five minutes into the second half before 24-year-old Sierra Leone forward Mohamed Buya Turay could level matters ten minutes later, 2-2 the match finished giving the visitors the point they needed to win their eighth title.

Edward Chilufya was an unused substitute on the day but played nine out of the 30 league games and chipped in with one goal.

Chilufya will now turn his attention to the Zambia U23 national team as he is expected to meet up with his teammates in Egypt today ahead of the U23 AFCON tournament.
