Argentina captain Lionel Messi hailed the team's spirit following a 1-0 win over Brazil in a friendly match staged at King Saud University Stadium on Friday.
Messi returned to Argentina squad after his three-month by CONMEBOL after he criticized the South American governing body during this summer's Copa America. This came after his side lost to Brazil and a third-place play-off win over Chile in which the Barcelona captain was sent off following an altercation with Gary Medel.
On his return, Messi was on target as Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 in an international friendly and he hailed his teammates for their performance.
"At the beginning, we tried to play, we made a few mistakes and they created some chances," he said.
"In the second half, we improved a lot. I think this system defensively gives us a lot. It’s good that we can play in several ways. When you win, you work with peace of mind, it is very positive for what is coming. We all ran a lot – it’s what we had to do."
Argentina will take on South Korea next week on yet again another international friendly.
