Victor Osimhen has admitted that getting into Nicolas Pepe's shoes at Lille comes with loads of pressure.
Pepe scored 35 goals in 74 appearances in the two seasons he spent at Lille before leaving for Arsenal last summer.
Osimhen, who was signed to replace the Ivory Coast international, has scored seven goals in nine matches for Lille so far.
And during the international break, the former Wolfsburg striker was on target for Nigeria in the AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho respectively, helping the Super Eagles to take charge of proceedings in Group L.
"For me, I think the pressure is high because Pepe scored a lot of goals for them and of course everyone wants me to replace him," Osimhen told Victor Modo via YouTube.
"He is a great player, to be compared with him is something spectacular and exceptional so I came there to write my history and to help the club and get the goals of course.
"To get to the objective in which the club has set for itself, I am really good to go and I think I can do even better."
Osimhen score a brace and provided two assists to help Nigeria beat Lesotho 4-2 on Sunday.
