🧩 Messi's LaLiga stadium puzzle is complete

The newly-crowned Ballon d'Or winner has now scored in every LaLiga Santander stadium after his goal at the Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday.

Messi's strike also happened to settle the match, in the 86th minute, as visiting Barcelona claimed a crucial win against a title rival to make a massive statement. The win over Atletico kept the Spanish Champions at the summit of the table and it also meant that Messi finally completed yet another personal milestone.

In many ways, it probably comes as a surprise that the magical Messi hadn't yet scored at Atletico Madrid's new stadium in a LaLiga match. Until Sunday, that is.

The Argentine had a great record at Atletico's old ground, the Vicente Calderon, a stadium at which he scored a whopping eight goals. His wait for a league goal at the Rojiblancos' new home, the Wanda Metropolitano since 2017, was a long one by Messi's amazing standards.

He had notched a goal there in the Copa Del Rey final of 2018 against Sevilla, but never against Atletico in LaLiga. Now he's scored a Cup Final decider and a crucial winner at the stadium that hosted the most recent Champions League final between Liverpool and Tottenham.

🤔 Is there anything that Messi cannot do?

With the Wanda Metropolitano now crossed off his list of LaLiga victims, Messi has scored at every single current LaLiga stadium, and yesterday he won a record-sixth Ballon d'Or crown.

🇦🇷🇺🇾 Messi - Suarez combo

Barcelona's skipper cut in from the right-wing, finished calmly at the far post and had his friend Luis Suarez to thank for the assist. This goal felt like Déjà vu.

Messi's best assistant is Suarez (42) and Suarez's best assistant is Messi (35) across all competitions. This true football partnership has seen the pair develop a brilliant understanding and produce a total of 77 goals for one another.

Against Borussia Dortrmund last week, Messi assisted Suarez and then Suarez assisted Messi four minutes later. Messi assisted Antoine Griezmann's goal in Barcelona's 3-1 win on the night.

The South American pair combined again on Sunday as Messi wrote himself into yet another chapter of football's record books.
