Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed his summer signings following another near-perfect show against City rivals Manchester City.
The Reds impressively won 2-1 away to the defending champions, thanks to a Marcus Rashford penalty and a near-post finish from Antony Martial finish.
This was their second win in a week following a similar win over Tottenham Hotspur at home, and the Norwegian was full of praise for his trio of signings in Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James.
The trio was at their best, with Wan-Bissaka, in particular, the standout performer on the wing where he faced some of City's brightest talents in Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling.
He also singled out David De Gea and Fred for praise, after the pair put in impressive displays.
“Today is why we have signed these three players. They fit perfectly into the way I want to play football and how the club wants to play,"
"They're humble lads, hard-working, great values. Aaron, he's playing against Sterling out there, Mahrez out there, De Bruyne out there and they just couldn't get past him.”
"Aaron today was again fantastic, Fred was unbelievable and our keeper is back to his best.”
He further revealed that the club's performance on the evening was one of the best during his stint at the club, alongside the win against PSG in the Champions League last season.
“It's a Man United performance in my mould. I love boys going forward. Of course there were times today where we didn't keep the ball as well as we could have. But we're improving all the time and the boys are getting experiences to remember. They're young boys,"
Solskjaer and company will now shift their focus to the Europa League where they face AZ Alkmaar in midweek before a Premier League tie against Everton next weekend.
