BREAKING: Kenya draw two CECAFA sides in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers

Kenya have landed fellow East African sides Rwanda and Uganda in Group E of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers draw conducted on Tuesday, January 21.

Mali will join the three CECAFA region teams with the West African nation being the best-ranked side according to the latest FIFA rankings.

Neither of the sides in Group E have ever qualified for the FIFA World Cup with the winner of Group standing a chance to enter the intercontinental competition should they win their playoffs match.

A total of 54 African nations will take part in the qualifying phase of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, but only five of them will get to represent their continent at the next edition of the tournament.

The ten group winners will progress to the third and final round, which will feature five two-legged play-off ties. The five winners of these play-offs qualify for Qatar 2022.
