Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals motivation ahead of Man City clash

Ahead of their Carabao Cup clash against Manchester City, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has urged his Manchester United players to draw inspiration from their comeback against Paris Saint-Germain.

United need at least a 3-0 win to seal a place in the Carabao Cup final following a 3-1 loss in the first leg at Old Trafford after the away goals rule was scrapped off in the competition.

United registered a memorable comeback in the Champions League Round of 16 last season after overturning a 2-0 home deficit to beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-1.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of their clash against City, Solskjaer revealed United's motivation for the tie, "Well it looked like it was over at half-time.

"I have to say the second part of that first-half they outplayed us for a while and it was hard. But when you get the goal, you're back in it, and hope for another one.

"But now we've got to go into the memory bank and think PSG, because we've done it against good teams before and it gives us some hope and the game in December gives us hope that we can do something there.

"It has to be a perfect performance to win with two goals against such a good team away from home. So for us it's not about away goals, we just need to score two more than them and when it happens.

"How it happens, if we concede two we need to score four. It would be good not to concede first, because that makes it less difficult.

"They're getting players back as well. I think we hit them last time when they were struggling a little bit and since then they've played really, really well.

"Of course, we've lost Scott and Marcus since that game, so we're a little bit lighter in the playing department, but we can't just defend.

We have to go out there and try to keep the ball and run after the ball, which isn't easy because they are one of the best pressing teams.

"As I said, a perfect performance it has to be, but we've done amazing things before at this club and these players, and the PSG game for me is a very, very good example of how you can make a two-goal deficit work in your favour. But we need the first goal."
