It will take teams to dig deep if they are to wrestle the Kenyan Premier League title from Gor Mahia going by their week 20 display.
With still a game in hand, Gor are four points clear of Kakamega Homeboyz who shot themselves in the foot when they couldn't hold on to a lead against Wazito on Sunday. In Juma Balinya, the Steve Pollack side seems to have finally found a striker to replace Jacques Tuyisenge and should their sort their financial woes, it will be hard for teams to stop their dominance.
That said, Chemelil under the new leadership of Moses Adagala seems to have turned some bend. In holding Western Stima-one of the best teams in the league this season-they showed that they can still give a fight despite being written off earlier in the season.
Their aim of being afloat is being buoyed too by the teams around them who have failed to spark. The trio of Kisumu All-Stars, Nzoia Sugar FC and Wazito FC have not had the best of season’s and Chemelil can use their oppositions outings to fuel a comeback.
Speaking of All-Stars, all seems gloomy for a team that took the National Super League by storm last season. They have only won two games since the season started and are just two points above Chemelil heading into week 21.
A change of coach seems not to have helped them that much and a change of fortunes is badly needed if they are not to return to the nation’s second tier.
