Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has revealed how he came close to leaving the west London club during the January transfer window.
Giroud who has fallen down the pecking order under boss Frank Lampard and was keen to leave last month. The Frenchman was linked with a move to Inter Milan but the deal failed to materialize despite Lampard admitting the forward could leave in January.
The 33-year-old was speaking to media following Blues 2-0 defeat to United and vowed he will give everything for the club.
"I was about to leave," he said on Monday night.
"From mid-December until the end of January, I found myself between two camps. But from February 1, I returned 100 percent to Chelsea and now I will give my all for the remainder of the season. It's nice to hit the ground running and have this feeling again."
"My personal goal now is to play as much as possible because I want to take part in the next European Championship with France."
