🧐 Who is Michaël Cuisance?

Bayern Munich has an oversupply of talented central midfielders and it's understood that Michaël Cuisance is on the verge of sealing a switch to the Premier League with Leeds United.

In case you hadn't heard of him, here's a little bit of info on the player.

✅ Michaël Cuisance bio

  • 📊 Age: 21
  • 🧮 Position: Central midfield playmaker
  • 🇫🇷 Nationality: French (46 youth caps)

🏔 His story

The young Frenchman was just 17 when he first moved to Germany with Borussia Mönchengladbach from the Nancy U19 setup in France. He went on to play 24 times in the Bundesliga in 2017/18, starting nine games and chipping in with two goals and two assists. As well as becoming Gladbach’s youngest ever player to start a Bundesliga match aged 18 years and 45 days, he was also voted the Fans Player of the Season.

Cuicance only made 13 competitive appearances in the 2018/219 campaign and he made only one start. Despite his difficulties at club level that year, he was called up to the France U20 side to participate at the World Cup, where he contributed two goals and an assist in his side's run to the last 16.

🎩 Playing style

Michael Cuisance is a left-footed playmaker who can play either in attacking or defensive midfield roles. He's been likened to Mesut Ozil and it's hard not to see why, although he likes to operate in a slightly deeper role than 2014 World Cup winner Ozil is famous for. Cuicance is an elegant left-footer known for his flamboyance on the ball, as well as his tricks and skills, and he's also a decent set-piece option after excelling as a corner and free-kick taker for Gladbach.

🗣 What the football world says

  • “At 17, he was already as far along as I was when I was 22!” - Gladbach midfielder and 2014 World Cup winner Christoph Kramer
  • “Michael is an exceptional player for his age. He’s a game-changer.” - former Gladbach coach Dieter Hecking
  • "Michael's strengths are in his possession of the football. He has a great technique, a strong left foot and a great mentality." - Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic

We'll certainly be keeping an eye on him as he makes his move to the Premier League in the coming days.
