Lampard insists keeper Arrizabalaga has a future at Chelsea despite missing last six games

Spanish keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has a future at Chelsea despite being dropped out of the club’s last six games according to the club’s manager Frank Lampard.

The goalkeeper has not played for the Blues since their 2-2 draw with Arsenal on January 21, which followed his late error in the 1-0 defeat against Newcastle at St. James' Park.

Suggestions have been thrown around with the keeper having been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid as Chelsea continue to be linked with Oblak and Onana but according to Lampard, the player was in control of his destiny having trained well.

“He's been professional, as expected. He's trained well and he's kept his head down, supported the team.  I say the same every week because I get asked every week, but he's been good.

Asked about if the player had a future at the club Lampard said:” Yes. Every player here is in control of their destiny in terms of how they play and how they train.

“This is Chelsea and we're trying to close the gap to the top. There's nobody who can be relaxed or loose, we're pushing every day. Of course in the summer we look at the group as a whole but we're not looking beyond the game tomorrow night.”

Kepa who became the most expensive goalkeeper in the world when he moved from Athletic Bilbao for £71.6million in August 2018, could feature against Liverpool on Tuesday night.
