It's season over for England's lower leagues as FA voids current campaign

The Football Association has voided all football in England below the three divisions that make up the National League.

This decision was reached upon on Thursday in the wake of the continued Coronavirus pandemic that has hit the world.

The directive takes place immediately, meaning there will be no relegation or promotion as all results will be expunged.

This also applies to the women's game below the Women's Super League and Championship level.

The National League, WSL and Women's Championship will, however, continue until the end, with the association planning more meetings to find an accommodative solution.

In a statement, the FA said: "These are challenging circumstances for English football and all decisions taken are in the best interests of the game,"

"Our primary concern will always be for the safety and welfare of clubs, players, staff, officials, volunteers and supporters during this unprecedented time.

"Today's steps take into account the financial impact during this uncertain period, whilst considering the fairest method on how the sporting outcomes for the season will be decided, with the integrity of the leagues in mind," it went on.

Some clubs will feel hard-hit by the decision, especially those that had already earned a promotion to respective upper leagues.
