Simba SC deny Kagere-Levante links

Tanzania giants Simba SC have denied reports linking striker Meddie Kagere to Spanish side Levante UD.

There has been a rumour in the past week that Levante was keen on the former Gor Mahia striker after they were impressed with him during Simba’s friendly with Seville last year but according to a source from the club, the links were just speculation from the media.

“We don’t have anyone or any team which has come to us seeking the services of Kagere. We just read the same news in the media and we are treating it as just rumours,” the source told Goal.

The speculations were fueled by Kagere’s agent Patrick Gakumba who said they had refused a move to Spain since the team wanted his client for trials something he said was demeaning his stature.

“Levante UD have told me they have been following Meddie Kagere since they watched him play against Sevilla when they visited Tanzania to play against Simba SC in a friendly.

“However, the only problem we have with them now is they want the player to attend trials first but if you ask me, Kagere is not a type of player to attend trials but a player who should go in straight into a team and play, and I have told them the same,” Kagere was quoted by a section of Tanzania tabloids.

Kagere set up a goal and scored the other in their 5-4 loss to Sevilla in the friendly with the player currently being the top scorer of the Tanzania Premier League with 19 goals.
