Kaizer Chiefs striker, Leonardo Castro, told a former Zamalek coach he wants to play for the Egyptian giants after a 2016 match.

The Colombian striker was still in the colours of Sundowns as Kabo Yellow beat the White Knights to be crowned the CAF Champions League winners in Cairo.

Some time after the game, Castro took a moment to approach the head coach, Moamen Solima, and let him know that the stadium ambiance did enough to lure the striker to the club.

“After the [2016 Caf Champions League] final, and while I was so sad to lose the title and Sundowns players were celebrating, Castro came to me and offered himself to play for Zamalek because he was fascinated by the atmosphere in the stadium," Solima told On-Time Sports.

"I told the board about that story, and we were trying to sign him before, but I was sacked after that and for some reason, he did not come to the club," he added.

Nevertheless,, the 30-year-old striker later left Chloorkop for a sock move to local rivals Amakhosi in January 2018.
