Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera has rubbished reports linking forward Kylian Mbappe to English Premier League giants Liverpool.
Mbappe has been a subject of speculations in recent months after he admitted that he admired the type of football Liverpool plays with his teammate Neymar being the other player being linked with a move but according to Herrera, his teammates at Paris Saint Germain were headed nowhere.
Speaking to COPE, Herrera said: “Mbappe and Neymar are still at PSG and even more so with the situation that we are currently in.
“I had dinner with Neymar before the quarantine and he is very involved with the project. ‘He told me that he has never been so happy in Paris. PSG’s project is such that both feel fulfilled in Paris.”
The sentiments come barely a week after Herrera who previously featured for Manchester United claimed that Mbappe was a candidate for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award in the next five years.
“To be honest, what I can say about Kylian is that sometimes in training it looks like he’s training with kids. The way he runs, he just leaves you behind. It looks like we are kids and he’s Usain Bolt!
“In football, you often see very quick players who leave players behind. But with Kylian, when he gets through on goal, he has the capacity to stop, be calm and to score a lot of goals.
“And that is not easy, to find the balance between the speed, strength and calmness. That’s why I think by 2025 he will be one of the contenders for the Ballon d’Or or even the champion,” Herrera said in an earlier interview with ESPN.
Last month, PSG were crowned Ligue 1 champions as the competition was cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis.
