Why Real Madrid will play their remaining home matches away from the Santiago Bernabéu

Real Madrid will play their remaining LaLiga matches at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano and not their Santiago Bernabéu grounds.

The club was recently allowed to play at the 6,000-seater Alfredo Di Stefano, the home of their youth team, as the Santiago Bernabéu undergoes renovations.

Among the renovations being done include installing new equipment for the VAR technology, new sets of floodlights, and a change in the advertising spaces.

LaLiga action is set to resume next week under strict guidelines, which also include staging the matches behind closed doors.

Real Madrid opens their campaign with two home ties; against Eibar on June 13, and against Valencia four days later.

Six of their remaining 11 LaLiga matches are home fixtures, and could also play another Champions League match if they overturn a 2-1 loss to Manchester City in the first leg of the last-16 matches.
