Odion Ighalo has admitted he is in touch with Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr as he thinks about making a return to the Nigeria national team.
Ighalo retired from international football after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt where he led his team to a third finish, behind Senegal and Algeria. The 30-year-old says he wants to return to the Super Eagles team in the nearest future but wants to put his focus on Manchester United at the moment having already signed a contract extension with the Red Devils.
"I am still in contact with Gernot Rohr and Amaju Pinnick, and they congratulated me on my loan deal," he revealed as quoted by brila.net.
"I am still thinking about returning to the national team, but right now I want to concentrate on my club career. I left the national team because of the distance between Nigeria and China, but now that I am in Manchester and just like life and in my career, you never can tell," he added.
Since Ighalo retired, Nigerian youngster Victor Osimhen has been the main man upfront and has netted four goals in his last three games for the Super Eagles team.
