Benin head coach Michel Dussuyer on why he believes in Nigeria qualifying for 2022 FIFA World Cup

Benin Republic head coach Michel Dussuyer firmly believes that Nigeria could potentially qualify for the 2022 Fifa Wolrd Cup set to be staged in Qatar, Goal reported.

Nigeria who have managed to qualify for the World Cup six-times have put on some impressive displays over those years.

Tunisia, Côte d'Ivoire and Cameroon. Nor should we forget Algeria, who won the Africa Cup of Nations,” Dussuyer told Fifa's official website.

“Then you have teams that could spring a surprise, such as Mali, who have made huge improvements recently and who I’d consider a dark horse in these qualifiers.”

Dussuyer who is currently at the helm of Benin's national team has revealed how his coaching philosophy has changed the team for the better and hopes his charges will continue to improve in every tournament they play in.

“My first stint with Benin was good on the whole. I spent two years with them and we qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations,” he continued.

“Since I returned, we’ve tried to adopt a style that suits the team. We worked together until we reached the level that took us to the quarter-finals at Egypt 2019.

"This didn’t happen by accident, and we played very well as a team.”
