Paris Saint-Germain lifted their 13th Coupe de France title as they returned to competitive action with a 1-0 win over Saint-Étienne.
Neymar quickly scored the only goal of the game in just 14 minutes but the match also saw potential disaster strike as Kylian Mbappé left the pitch in tears due to an ankle injury sustained by a horrific foul by Loic Perrin. Referee Amaury Delerue, after consulting the VAR monitor, issued a red card. Marking the third time Saint-Etienne has had a player sent off in the first half, in a game against PSG this season.
With the Champions League now looming the injury will be a blow to PSG's campaign, with Mbappé later returning to the bench with crutches during the second-half, his fitness for their match against Atalanta on the 12th of August may be in serious doubt.
