Bartomeu admits Barcelona cannot afford Neymar, Lautaro Martinez this summer

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has ruled out any move for Brazilian star Neymar and Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez.

The pair have been linked with a move to the Spanish club in recent months, but the coronavirus pandemic has hugely affected their finances, with the Bartomeu saying it is 'unfeasible' to conduct any business.

The president, while speaking to a local newspaper, further revealed that the club generated 200m Euros less than expected between March and June because of the coronavirus pandemic.

"All the big European clubs are affected," he said. "This isn't going to last a year, but three or four."

“Barca have spoken to Inter about Lautaro over the last few weeks but the conversations have been put on hold by mutual consent. The current situation doesn't allow for major transfer fees,”

“In the current situation, no. PSG don't want to sell either, which makes sense as he's one of the best players in the world. Last summer we tried really hard to sign him but this summer we won't even try.

“All the big European clubs have been impacted by this and we are all working to adapt. This won't be for just one year, it could be for up to three or four years.”

Barcelona have however completed the signing of Miralem Pjanic from Juventus, with Arthur going the other way.

“We've been following him for a while but every time we moved for him it wasn't possible because his club didn't want to sell,” he said.

Barcelona lost the Spanish LaLiga title to rivals Real Madrid, but have a chance of silverware as they are still in the Champions League, where they will face Napoli in the second leg of the last 16.
