Bundesliga side RB Leipzig plans to allow fans in their first home game of the Bundesliga 2020/21 season.
Leipzig is set to host Mainz 05 on September 20 and in a statement, they have already engaged the German Football Federation (DFL) on the measures.
“After discussion with the DFL, the decision was taken to implement the concept. A decisive factor for the implementation remains at all times the regional infection levels, which must be permanently reassessed in correspondence with the public health department of Leipzig.
“New protection measures against the coronavirus came into effect in Saxony on 1st September. On the basis of these, the associated implementation provisions and the hygiene concept for home games, the proposal was approved by the public health department of Leipzig on Tuesday,” the Bundesliga club tweeted.
The number of fans that should be allowed in the stadium is expected to be around 8,500 with a bigger number expected to be allowed in subsequent games should the first be a success.
