Southampton to complete move for Brest midfielder Ibrahima Diallo

Southampton are on the verge of retaining the services of Stade Brestois youngster Ibrahima Diallo according to several reports.

Sky Sports claim the deal is worth £12 million, with Diallo believed to have agreed to a four-year deal to join the St. Mary's outfit.

Diallo is expected to be announced on Sunday with the France U21 international's medical scheduled to be completed in the next 24 hours.

The youngster registered one assist in 22 appearances across all competitions for Stade Brest last season before the season was called off due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has been looking at options that can fill the void that has been left bu the departure of Denmark international Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the Saints had first targeted Toulouse midfielder Ibrahim Sangare but the deal fail through as he secured a move to Eredivisie side PSV.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Hassenhutl highlighted his desire to bring in more signings before the close of the summer transfer window.

“I think there are some other alternatives where we are still keen that they are coming to us. If it’s on loan or permanent. I think we know we need a few ones. One or two minimum, maybe three.”
