Getafe have confirmed they will change their name and badge ahead of their weekend league match against Barcelona.
The club has dropped the first four letters - Geta- and will now be referred to as 'Fe CF, which is Spanish for 'faith'.
The campaign is aimed at reminding the world 'not to lose faith' amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which has ravaged the globe this year.
En esta dura temporada, no perder la FE es ganarlo todo. 💙https://t.co/WR4tEIiDjW— FE C.F. (@GetafeCF) October 14, 2020
A statement from the club read;
"The situation that we have had to live at a world level is exceptional and Getafe C.F. cannot remain impassive, so it has decided to send a positive message to the world, because if history has demonstrated something, it is that we are capable of overcoming any adversity, for this reason, the Club wants to ask the world not to lose faith because it is capable of doing incredible things."
This is not the first time the club is running some interesting campaigns, having hit the headlines in 2011 when they shot a pornographic feature to encourage sperm donation to 'breed more fans'.
