Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has heaped praise on Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe after his amazing display against Paris Saint-Germain.
United beat PSG 2-1 on Tuesday in their first game of the Champions League group stage thanks to Marcus Rashford's late winner. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted to hand the 22-year-old a starting role in the absence of Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly. The England international gave an excellent display, containing PSG's duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the entire match.
"These boys can play. We played it right, as we wanted it. All credit to attitude, work rate, and the team spirit has been fantastic," he said.
"I’m just happy for the team. To see Axel – it’s an unbelievable performance, he’s only trained for a few weeks! He is a great leader."
After the game, OGS was delighted by the defender's performance and he said, "We know that when you go away against a team like this, against players like Neymar and Mbappe, top, top players in the world, we know we have to defend well."
"We know David De Gea will have to make a few saves. Sometimes you’ll get in a foot race with Mbappe and you’ll have to run with him and we know Axel’s qualities – he’s a top defender. The first game in, I don’t know, 10 months or something, which is just testament to the quality he has."
