Laliga giants FC Barcelona almost re-signed Neymar Junior in 2019 but fell short in the deal with €20m.
According to former Barca Vice President of the Catalan club Javier Bordas, the club wanted the Brazilian from Paris-Saint Germain in the summer of 2019 and offered players plus money but the offer was not considered by the French giants.
“We offered PSG €110m plus Jean-Clair Todibo, Ivan Rakitic and Ousmane Dembele. PSG wanted €130m plus Todibo, Rakitic and Dembele, so Neymar was €20m away from coming back. In the end, it couldn’t be done,” Bordas told El Partidazo de la Cadena Cope via by Diario Sport.
Apart from Neymar, the club also wanted to get Mbappe when they signed Ousmane Dembele from Dortmund.
“We tried to bring Mbappe and Dembele together. Mbappe was excited to come to Barca when Neymar left,” Bordas added.
The Brazilian has constantly been linked with a move to Barca where he formed a formidable partnership with Luis Suarez (now at Atletico Madrid) and Lionel Messi in an attack that was dubbed as MSN.
Neymar moved to Barca in 2013 from Santos and won two La Liga titles, three Copa del Reys, one Spanish Super Cup, one Club World Cup and one Champions League at Camp Nou before joining PSG in a record €200m deal in 2017.
